SHORTY BAIRD
Tugboats/Towboats
Through Bristol Harbor Group, Inc.’s (BHGI) first contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), BHGI was tasked to perform an acoustical analysis of the SHORTY BAIRD replacement towboat. The analysis was conducted by one of BHGI’s subcontractors, Noise Control Engineering (NCE). NCE used a ship compartment noise prediction software to calculate the sound levels throughout the towboat. An alternative treatment approach using damping material was suggested by NCE and selected by the design team. The proposed treatments are designed to keep all noise limits below recommended limits except for the Maine Deck Engine Room.
