Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. designed a 90 foot Oyster Dredge, the F/V BARBARA ELAINE, for Blount Boats, Inc. Design services included conceptual, preliminary, and detail design including structural and stability analyses. The vessel had some unique requirements as the dredge is essentially a large vacuum that removes oysters from their beds in Long Island Sound, and delivers them to the vessel's main deck to be sorted. Additional technical issues revolved around the use of heavy equipment on the main deck for off-loading the cargo. This required additional structural analysis of the main deck.
