Alaska Ferry

In 2023, Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. (BHGI) was tasked by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Marine Design Center (USACE) through an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract, to investigate the feasibility and economic viability for ferry services between Akutan and Akun Islands in Alaska for a seafood processing plant. Currently, services are provided by a commercial aviation company and are dictated by weather conditions and high costs. BHGI evaluated current and historical information, surveyed local area ferry services, identified risk analyses, developed a cost environment, and generated a cost model.
